  • Every Vote Matters - In 2009, Mr. Joshi from Rajasthan lost his seat by one vote and his wife, driver and mother did not vote (for the same reason!).
  • On average on a per seat basis the winning candidate secures ~3 lakh votes (~20% of eligible voters) and wins with a margin of ~74,000 votes (~5% of all eligible voters and ~10% of eligible but non-voting voters)
  • Translated at a booth or neighbourhood level
    • If you and 50 other friends of yours decided to vote differently, the elections would have a different impact
    • If 1 out of 3 people who are eligible to vote but are not currently voting exercise their right to vote, they can make a completely new candidate win
  • If you do not take part in the democratic process, you have no right to complain about it! So you will then have to accept the fact that 20% of some random people decide your fate and the fate of the country for the next five years
